Hi, I’m Emily

I am a mother of two beautiful daughters and started homeschooling my oldest daughter in September 2025. Even before I got married, I knew I wanted to homeschool my children because of my not so great experience in the public school system. I can sum up my 12 years of schooling in one word: boring. There were some good moments and good teachers here and there, but for the most part, I was a student that tuned out as soon as I stepped foot in the school building.

Then, when I became an elementary teacher, it solidified my desire to homeschool my children because I realized and saw firsthand how the school system worked, and it does NOT do what is best for the students. Students were just a number that either delivered the needed score that gave a good grade for the school or didn’t. Many teachers described their students as “low” or “high” students. I even noticed myself change and conform to the school system. I knew this was not the kind of education I wanted for my future children.

But when it came time for me to plan and prepare for homeschooling, I was overwhelmed with uncertainty and doubt. Even with my teaching background, trying to build a homeschool from scratch felt like a daunting task. Plus, I felt completely alone because no other moms around me were homeschooling their children. It made me start to wonder, “if someone like me who has a teaching background feel overwhelmed, how much more would other moms who have no knowledge or experience teaching feel about homeschooling?” Most parents would take the easy route and send their children to school.

But I want more parents to choose homeschooling for their children because I truly believe homeschooling IS the better route for education. That is why I decided to ultimately start this blog. It is a way to help and connect with other homeschooling moms who decided to start on this crazy but exciting and fulfilling adventure.
